Optional program additions

Floriade 2012

Dear Participants,

In the form of optional programming we would like to tell you about the Floriade that will be held in the Netherlands this year. The Floriade is an event of grand scale, and is held every 10 years. It offers a beautiful assortment of artfully decorated gardens and pavilions, combining horticultural highlights from all around the world. The park, spanning over 66 hectares, is divided into 5 themed parts, all with their own décor, activities, and shows. It truly is an amazing thing to see!

Considering the Floriade’s unique setting, we believed it would be of interest to you to visit the Floriade, so to speak as an optional addition to the WICaNeM 2012 program. We will therefore offer you a day package (including the day-ticket and the transport to and from the venue, departure and arrival point being Hof van Wageningen, the conference venue) for € 50,00. Separate ticket prices would be € 25,00 (€ 30,00 if you want to include the cable car ride), to which transportation fees would be added still. We do not know yet whether or not this cable car ride will be included in the package we will offer, but of course we can request this when ordering your tickets. To this end, we need to be able to estimate the amount of tickets we are going to have to book beforehand (the due date for this will be mentioned here at a later time). Please, if you would like some more information, do not hesitate to contact us at Wicanem@wur.nl, with the subject ‘Floriade’.

We plan to organise this day trip for May the 26th. This would mean that you would have to add another day to your stay in the Netherlands.

Kindest regards,

The WICaNeM 2012 organising team.

Conference dinner

Dear Participants,

We would like to introduce you to this year's dinner venue: Burgers' Zoo. Burgers' Zoo offers an interesting dinner oppertunity. Perhaps less formal, but still of high quality and offering something extra that we believe to be of great interest and fun. When having dinner in Burgers' Zoo's 'Bush' area, one will be dining in a restaurant situated in a tropical animal enclosement. When arriving at the venue, you will all be presented with a tropical drink, after which you will have some free time to roam freely through the enclosure, as well as visit the directly connected 'Aqua' area of the zoo. After this, we will all meet again at the restaurant, where the dinner will be presented to us in the form of a buffet.

After the main course, the Best Paper Award will be handed out, which will be followed by desert.

In order for this to occur as smooth as possible, we would like you to inform us of any allergy information that is of great importance. We are thinking along the lines of lactose-, peanut-, seafood-, and gluten-allergies, but of course if you suffer from another allergy that will greatly endanger your welbeing, please do not hesitate to contact us. If required, this will allow the chefs to prepare you a seperate meal.

Transport to and from the venue will be organised by us. If however you would rather organise your own transport, please let us know in due time!

Kindest regards,

The WICaNeM 2012 organising team.
